British & Irish Chocolate Makers

This is a comprehensive list of all of the 52 businesses currently making chocolate from the cocoa bean inside the UK and Ireland, as at May 2025.

To be in the list they must currently be selling the chocolate they make from the bean.

The list does not include companies who have chocolate made on their behalf, in or outside of the UK, only those that own the machines to process beans into chocolate. There are some great companies that don’t fit this description, maybe I’ll write about them another day.

There are many great bean to bar chocolates made abroad available in the UK. They’re also not in this list.

An important note before you make any purchases:

Some of the makers in the list may also buy in chocolate from other companies as well as making some of their own chocolate. This is more common for companies also making filled chocolates. Where I know the details I’ve mentioned this in the description, but it’s always worth asking before you order if it isn’t clear.

If you see any errors or know of any I’ve missed, please let me know via this contact form.

Confused about what a Chocolate Maker is vs a Chocolatier? I’ve written about it here.

Finally:

If you care about great chocolate you might like to know that my curated London maps all have a filter where you can just view the bakeries that use great quality, ethical chocolate in their baked goods.

Here are the Irish and British Chocolate Makers, in alphabetical order:
