Think you don’t like dark chocolate?

Here are some gorgeous Dark Milk Chocolate bars to try

This category of chocolate - generally defined by containing more than 50% cocoa content, inclusive of the whole bean and possibly extra cocoa butter - is very easy to like.

All the sweet creaminess of milk chocolate, but with a more intense chocolatey hit.

Which means more cocoa! More flavonoids!* More fibre!* More health!*

* than a typical milk chocolate bar which will have less than 30% cocoa solids.

A 60% dark milk chocolate bar will have roughly the same fat, calories, sugar and protein as a 70% dark chocolate, but for people who think they don’t like dark chocolate, it’ll be enjoyable!

Add a tiny bit of salt and it’s almost impossible to stop eating.

Except!

You’ll actually find yourself satisfied and stopping after eating much less than you might have consumed of Dairy Milk or Galaxy.

I promise!

Here are some of the great dark milk craft chocolate bars available in the UK:

(none of these are sponsored or affiliate links, just ones I tried in the last six months and enjoyed!)

Land Chocolate

Madagascar 56%

What a bar. Notes of brown sugar. Caramel. A little fruity.  Dried cherry.

It’s out of stock at the moment but keep an eye out here.

Dormouse Chocolates

of Manchester make two dark milk chocolate bars:

51.5% Guatemala

This reminds me of excellent Norwegian Brown cheese also known as Brunost. You can read more about that and the brand I recommend in the UK here or here, but the summary is that it tastes like excellent caramelly fudge.

55% Trio Reserve Belize

It’s kind of wild how much this tastes of banana. Like the best banana chocolate milkshake you’ve had in your life.

Here are my tasting notes from trying them in October 2025:

50% Rio dulce Guatemala.

Sweet caramel. Some banana. Baked figs, hint apricots. Malty caramel finish

Nicaragua Juno 45%.

Quite sweet with a note of hay.

Honduras 61%

This was supposed to be 55%, but the recipe went askew and it turned into one of those happy accidents that’s now a permanent addition.

Bare Bones

55% Honduras

A gorgeous hint of currants in this creamy chocolate.

Beancraft

A set of four, all at 55% cocoa content and all excellent. Find them here.

Kokoa Kamili (Tanzania) 55%.

Caramel, fruity, sweet, vanilla. So good.

Sierra Nevada Colombia 55%

A three star great taste award winnet with a clear tropical fruit acidity kicking through.

Belize - trio reserve - 55%

Tasted like a chewy tropical fruit caramel (for anyone who has had Genevieve’s cocoa fruit caramel - like that).

Guatemala

Cinnamon, sweet.

Beautifully packaged BEancraft milk chocolate bars in large and mini versions in a jute cocoa sack-lined hamper

Pump Street Chocolate

Haiti 60%

Strawberry bubblegum, manuka honey. This isn’t currently available as a bar but is coating some of their caramelised hazelnuts.

Togo 44%

Not technically a milk chocolate but when supermarket milk chocolate is barely 25% cocoa content, it’ll be an improvement if it’s all you can manage! Sweet milky caramel. This is a very nostalgic milk chocolate flavour.

Their newest 58% Madagascar with Halen Mon sea salt is so moreish and delicious.
They also sell it without salt in baking pastilles which are totally ok to eat (and even better value!).
